YA/Fantasy

Page Count: 336

Plot: "
Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!

Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust."
Review: Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier is a fun and entertaining story that I found to be a rather quick read. The narrator is Gwyneth Shepard, who is absolutely hilarious and probably the reason that I enjoyed this book so much. She's easy to relate to and funny, although not quite as funny as Rose from Vampire Academy.
The plot isn't complicated so it's one of those books that easy to read at any time because it sucks you in and it isn't hard to follow. Although it can be predictable and starts out a little bit slow, it does pick up speed.
It is a translation (the original novel is in German) which always makes me worry that it's missing something since it's not in the language that it was originally published in.
Because it's under 400 pages, it's a quick read and I finished it in about 2 and a half days.
