Synopsis: Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Review: This wasn't a terrible book. It really wasn't, but it definitely was not for me. The cover didn't give me high expectations going into this book, but I did hear a lot of praise for it so I decided that I would try to look past the cliched summary and stereotypical bad YA cover. While I probably won't continue this series, if you're a fan of paranormal romance then this is the book for you.

Fitzpatrick's writing was surprisingly good and I see a lot of potential. I'm sure a lot of her more recent novels are even better and she does tense scenes with ease. And the incorporation of angel lore was interesting, however I would have liked to hear more than the brief glimpse that she gave. That's about as much as I liked.

The characters were definitely reminiscent of Twilight which was not a book that I enjoyed.  It was the formulaic with the awful guy chasing after a girl who clearly doesn't want him until she finally wants him. Something I personally find unnerving.

The whole book does this dramatic zero to sixty with Nora becoming extremely - and rightfully - paranoid about everyone as the story progresses. Her best friend Vee also goes from mildly annoying to straight-up terrible friend by the end. Honestly, Vee was such a promising character to start with and she was so irritating by the end.

All in all, I was underwhelmed with this book as I'd been told how simply amazing this book was.
