Isabel Chase was working as a waitress in New Hampshire one day until all her dreams came true. With a little help from a friend, she lands a job as a writer for the hit show Thicker Than Water and finds herself moving to Los Angeles. As she discovers a whole new group of friends and a new life in LA, she also begins to discover her feelings for her boss.

Taylor Andrews is the executive producer of Thicker Than Water and has always had to work hard for everything she has. Now all that hard work has paid off and she's known for her magic touch when it comes to television. But her love life is floundering, until Isabel arrives that is.

So the story starts off with Isabel moving to Los Angeles and landing her dream job. This book is basically the best kind of wish fulfillment; it's fluffy, it's romantic. But the beauty of Melissa Brayden is that she writes these amazing romances and lives, but the characters still feel real.

Isabel suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. Both of which I've struggled with and seeing those in a character is incredibly comforting. The fact that she doesn't let her anxiety get in the way of her getting her dream job, having a relationship or having friends is so comforting. Mental health is really well done in this book.

But realistic portrayals of mental health aren't exactly the reason people read romance novels.

The romance in this book was fantastic! The chemistry between Isabel and Taylor was practically tangible. I loved watching them fall in love and they were so cute together. The steamy scenes weren't half bad either although since I was reading this book on the bus when I encountered the first one I was probably too embarrassed to appreciate it.

This book has the feel of watching a rom-com especially with how witty and funny Isabel is. And along with the adorable antics of Raisin the dachshund, who I adored! As the owner of two adorable dachshunds, I do tend to fangirl whenever there's a dachshund in a book. They're such funny little dogs and that was portrayed well in the book.

Overall, a sweet, fun read with relatable characters set in LA with the coolest friend group ever. It's wonderful for a quick escape from reality.
