Review: Like the entire series, City of Heavenly Fire is the perfect blend of shocking twists, hilarious commentary by the characters themselves, and gruesome battles that I can't help but love it as much as I loved the rest of the serious. It's probably on of my favorite books in the series, which is one of my favorite series.
I can never get over how funny Cassandra Clare's characters manage to be even in the most serious situations and it offsets the horribly heartbreaking twists (which I will not be spoiling!). My favorite, totally not spoiler quote, is when Isabelle says "Brother Zachariah months January through December in the Hot Silent Brothers Calender."
Not only was this book totally worth the two year wait, but it was the perfect conclusion to a perfect paranormal series. It was such a bittersweet read because it was such a great book, but I was so sad that it was over so quickly.
There is one incredibly sad event towards the end and I'll confess that I cried just a little bit. Or a lot.
This book was, overall, perfect. I was heartbroken and happy at the same time. I cried because it was over. I miss the characters already and they'll always have a special place in my heart. This is the type of book that worms its way into your heart.
