Review: For anyone who hasn't read The Selection and The Elite, read those before continuing to read this review. And, if you're on the fence about starting The Selection series, give it a try!

Where most of The Selection series has focused on the love triangle between Prince Maxon, America, and Aspen, The One is where America, very early on, decides whom she loves. The break from the love triangle was nice and America - and the rest of the characters - really developed in this novel.

Maxon and Celeste actually grew to be my favorite characters as they began to show more about themselves. They stopped seeming two dimensional, which has been a problem with this series since The Selection. Celeste has the most character development of all of them and, even if you hated her in all the other books, she gets so much better.

There is way less of the cattiness that you see in the other books and each character really shines in The One.

Overall, I loved it. There were a few parts were I freaked out, some where I cried, and a I did a lot of gasping. Since I read this in school, I'm pretty sure my classmates now think I'm crazy because of this book. In short, totally worth it and I'm glad I read it in one day.
